Human Rights Are the Backbone of Democracy – Dr. Divya Chandana

Dr Divya Chandana

Hyderabad, Dec 11: On the occasion of International Human Rights Day, social activist and political leader Dr. Divya Chandana, Health & Sanitary Chief of Mission Modi Rashtriya Sangh, Telangana, and National Vice President (Women Wing) of the Republican Party of India (Athawale), stressed  the urgent need to
strengthen human rights awareness, justice, and equality in India.
Dr. Chandana said human rights are not just legal provisions but the “foundation of dignity, civil liberty, and humane governance.” She noted that although the Indian Constitution guarantees fundamental rights, gaps remain in real-life access, especially for marginalized communities. Expressing concern over issues such as gender violence, caste discrimination, child labour, poor healthcare access, and injustices faced by minorities, she urged authorities and civil society to ensure stronger enforcement of human rights laws.  Dr. Divya called for greater public participation and education to build a society where dignity and fairness are universal. She concluded that a nation’s true strength lies not in its economy, but in how it protects its most vulnerable citizens.
